Funded by the City of Houston’s Housing and Community Development Department, Lydia’s Place is a 6,796 square foot housing unit featuring 15 permanent fully furnished apartments.
“This facility celebrates the legacy of my Aunt Lydia Robinson and this is our second site to serve HIV/AIDS infected men in underutilized communities. This dream has been recognized for the second time with the realization of this project. Lydia’s Place is a beacon in the community and the transitional housing will provide residents with the resources necessary to assist them in living full productive lives.” says Rev. Stanley Phill, Director.
This marks the second project funded by the City of Houston’s Housing and Community Development Department to A Caring Safe Place. Rev. Phill and his wife Stephanie donated the 15,000 square ft. lot to the non-profit. The land donation along with the success of A Caring Safe Place created a great partnership opportunity with the City of Houston. Additionally, resources were obtained through the National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) who have provided a large portion of the Section 3 certified contractors for the design and construction.
Lydia’s Place is a subsidiary of A Caring Safe Place, Inc., a local 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization. The agency was founded in 1997 with the mission to provide crisis intervention services to persons infected and affected by HIV, who are also victims of drug abuse, abandonment and neglect.
